 Winona Laura Horowitz, born on October 29, 1971 is an American actress. She initially was renowned for playing unusual roles. However her popularity rose during the 1990s, when she played more varied roles in productions of different genres. She has received various accolades such as the Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and nominations for the Grammy Award, two Academy Awards and a BAFTA Award.After Ryder's debut film in Lucas (1986) in which she became famous for her role in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice (1988). Her roles in Heathers (1989), Great Balls of Fire (89), Mermaids(90), Edward Scissorhandss (1990) as well as Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) added to her star status. The roles she played in May Welland, a socialite in Martin Scorsese's The Age of Innocence (1993) as well as Jo March in Little Women's fifth adaptation (1994) received her praise from critics. Reality Bites (1994), and Little Women (1994) were her other films.
