 Rachel Anne McAdams (born 17 November 1978) is an actress from Canada. Canadian actress. She graduated from York University's theatre program in the year 2001. She was part of Canadian films and television productions including Perfect Pie (2002) for which she was nominated for a Genie Award, My Name Is Tanino (2003-2005) and Slings and Arrows (2003), which won her a Gemini Award. In 2002 she made her Hollywood film film debut with The Hot Chick. In 2004, she became an international star in The Notebook and Mean Girls, a comedy about the sex scene. In 2005, she was a star in the romantic comedy Wedding Crashers, the psychological thriller Red Eye, and the comedy-drama The Family Stone. The film was widely praised by the media as Hollywood's new "it girl" and also received an BAFTA Award nomination for Best Rising Star.After the brief hiatus, she returned to prominence in 2009 when she appeared in the political thriller State of Play, the romance The Time Traveler's Wife, and the 2009 thriller Sherlock Holmes.
