 Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born 16 May 1977) is a New Zealand actress. Known for her portrayals of women with complex personalities and her proficiency in American dialects,[2] she works mostly in independent film. Lynskey is the recipient of two Critics Choice Awards and the Gracie Award, a New Zealand Film Award and an Hollywood Film Award, and a Sundance Special Jury Award, in addition to Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award, Screen Actors Guild Award as well as Primetime Emmy Award nominations.Lynskey made her film debut as a teenage murderess in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After making the move to the United States, Lynskey built a career as a supporting actor in a number of big and small-budget films including Ever After (1998) and Detroit Rock City, But... (both 1999), Abandon, Sweet Home Alabama, (both 2002), Shattered glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006).
