 Jose Romulo Sosa Ortiz, 17 February 1948 - 28 September 2019, was a Mexican actor and singer. Born into an illustrious family of musicians, Jose began his musical career as a teenager playing guitar and singing in a serenade. Jose Jose joined a jazz and bossa Nova trio, where he played doublebass and bass. In the 1970s Jose became a solo performer. He demonstrated his talent as a tenor singer with a powerful performance of "El Triste" at an Latin music festival in Mexico City in 1970. The song helped to climb the Latin charts in that decade. After gaining recognition as the balladeer of the year, his singing received universal praise from musical peers and the media.In the 1980s, after joining Ariola Records, Jose rose to international prominence as one of the world's most renowned and skilled Latin artists. The album he released in 1983 Secretos has sold over 25 million units.
