Danica Sue Patrick (/daenIk@born on March 25, 1982), is an American former professional race driver. Danica Sue Patrick is the most accomplished female in the history of American open-wheel car racing. Her win at the 2008 Indy Japan 300 is the only female winner in an IndyCar Series race. Patrick was born to a working class family in Beloit (Wisconsin) and started Karting when she was 10 years old. She took first place in her category at the World Karting Association Grand National Championship three consecutive times in the mid-1990s. With the consent of her parents, she dropped out of highschool and moved to the United Kingdom in 1998 to pursue a career in karting. Patrick was a participant in Formula Vauxhall and Formula Ford before returning to the United States in 2001 due to a lack of funds. She competed in five Barber Dodge Pro Series races in 2002 for Rahal Letterman Racing. Patrick then raced in the Toyota Atlantic Series for the following two seasons. Her best performance was placed third in the championship standings for the 2004 season where she became the first female to earn an overall place in the series.
