Amanda Tapping, a British-Canadian actress/director was born 28 August 1965. She is best known for her role as Samantha Carter in the Canadian-American military science fiction television series Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe. Also, she starred in the role of Helen Magnus in the science fictional-fantasy TV series Sanctuary.Born in Rochford, Essex, England, Tapping moved with her family to Ontario, Canada, when she was just three years old. North Toronto Collegiate Institute was where she excelled in environmental and drama. When she graduated in 1984, Tapping decided to concentrate her studies on acting and attended the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts. Tapping has appeared in a range of commercials on television as well as a variety roles in TV and film productions like The Outer Limits or The X-Files.
