Netflix YA drama The Society left fans crying out for more in the wake of the dramatic season finale, which was the final confirmation of what had occurred to the teens from West Ham. There's still more tears to come , as The Society season two has been pulled by Netflix. In the statement, Netflix blamed COVID-19, explaining: "We've made the difficult choice not to proceed with the continuation of The Society and I Am Not Okay With This. We're sad to be forced to take these decisions due to circumstances that were created by COVID. According to The Hollywood Reporter, despite being satisfied with the show's' performances There was uncertainty about when they would air and the unexpected budget increases due the pandemic. The additional difficulties of managing a huge cast proved to be too much to overcome. Chris Keyser, showrunner at Variety said that they had spent the last few months preparing to return again and dealing with the COVID protocols. "And the next day, I received a call from Netflix telling me that they had made this choice.' It was definitely disturbing and abrupt."
