Leonardo

A sketch dating back 530 years by Leonardo da Vinci was recently discovered in France. It was discovered at the Parisian auction house, Tajan, valued at 15 million euros or close to $16 million USD. The pen and ink drawing is just 7.5 5 inches in size and is believed to be one of eight studies representing the "Martyred Saint Sebastian" listed in da Vinci's Codex Altlanticus notebooks. It is believed by historians that da Vinci eventually completed a complete painting, but it's still to be discovered. The sketch came to light after a retired French doctor found it amongst his late father's papers. The director of the old master paintings at Tajan put it in the 16th century. another expert noticed notes written by a left-handed artist, which da Vinci was a perfect candidate. A third opinion was provided by Carmen C. Bambach, curator of Italian and Spanish drawings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Carmen C. Bambach, curator of Spanish and Italian drawings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art confirmed that da Vinci's attribution was undisputed. The high price is a reflection of the fact that da Vinci was credited with it. French law permits the Louvre Museum to propose.
