Hayley Elizabeth Atwell, who was born on 5 April 1982 in London was an American and British actress. Atwell was raised and born in London. She was a student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and made her stage debut in 2005 with James Kerr's version of Prometheus Bound, an Ancient Greek tragedy. After appearing in various West End productions, Atwell was recognized for her performance as Lady Elizabeth Foster, which was nominated for the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Artistress. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award as Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film for her performance in The Pillars of the Earth (2010). Her performance as Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero movie Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) earned international recognition.
