Michael Landes, Brooklyn Sudano, Harley Quinn Smith, Chiara Aurelia, Mika Abdalla, Froy Gutierrez, Allius Barnes, Blake Lee and Nathaniel Ashton were all cast in the show on November 13 and 13, 2019. However, by May 18, 2020 Olivia Holt had replaced Mika Abdalla in the show.On October 30 of 2020, Sarah Drew was added to the cast as a regular role. In March of 2021 Barrett Carnahan and Andrea Anders., Benjamin J. Cain and Nicole Bilderback were given recurring roles. Eloise, Griffin Gluck and Lisa Yamada were cast in characters that would repeat on April 21, 2022. Paul Adelstein was responsible for scripting the adapting the recasting. On May 6, 2022 Braeden De La Garza Nile Bullock, and Jenna Lamb were cast for Cruel Summer season 2.Cruel Summer season 2 will introduce new set-ups, timelines and cast members as well as saying goodbye to Skyline and the first season. It's not known whether any of the roles from the original season will be made a comeback.
