Bret Baier

William Bret Baier (/'bret 'beI@r(born August 4 1970) is the host of Special Report with Bret Baier on the Fox News Channel and the chief political correspondent for Fox. He was previously the channel's Chief White House Correspondent and Pentagon correspondent.Baier was born in Rumson, New Jersey, to a family of mixed German and Irish roots. Baier was raised Catholic and was a student at the Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated in 1988. Baier was then a student at the methodist DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, graduating in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in political sciences as well as English. He was an DePauw student and a member the Xi Chapter Sigma Chi fraternity. After finishing in 1992, Baier joined WRAL-TV, an CBS affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina. He submitted an audition tape to Fox News in 1998, and was eventually hired as the network's Atlanta bureau chief. He drove from Georgia to Arlington in Virginia to cover the Pentagon attack on September 11th 2001. In the absence of being asked to be the Pentagon correspondent for the news network, he didn't return to Atlanta.
