Mila Markovna Kunis was born in Chernivtsi (formerly part the Soviet Union) on August 14, 1983. She grew up with her brother in Ukraine until the age seven, at which point her family made the decision to relocate to Los Angeles, California with the sum of $250 in their names. Her family was not in poverty, but they could only afford $250. Furthermore all the degrees or qualifications of her parents could be transferred once they arrived in the United States. They Jewish family fled to the Soviet Union due to rising antisemitism and the inability to find work for Mila and her younger brother. Kunis struggled through elementary school and began acting in the television show That 70s Show shortly after having graduated from high school. She was taught on set often to help her earn her GED.Mila Kunis began acting when she was 9 years old as part of an after-school program. An administrator noticed her fast and began sending her out to auditions.
