Rebel Melanie Elizabeth Wilson, born Melanie Elizabeth Bownds on 2 March 1980, is an Australian comedian as well as a writer, performer and producer. Wilson graduated from the Australian Theatre for Young People (2003-2007, 2019). Then she appeared as Toula on the SBS comedy series Pizza (2003–2007, 2019, 2020) and in The Wedge (2006–2007). She wrote, produced and performed in the musical comedy series Bogan Pride (2008). Wilson was a comic in the American comedy films Bridesmaids (both in 2011) and Struck by Lightning (both in 2012). Variety named Wilson one of the "Top Ten Comics to Look Out For in 2013". She was Fat Amy, the character in Pitch Perfect's musical comedy series from 2012 until 2017. The show earned her numerous awards nominations and victories, including the MTV Movie Award (Best Breakthrough Performance) as well as the Teen Choice Award (Best Movie Actress). In 2016, she was a part-time actress in two film How to Be Single and Grimsby.
