The MLB off-season has been of huge money-making deals and some teams have committed hundreds of millions of dollars with the hopes of identifying the perfect combination that can make them a playoff caliber team. With spring training just less than a week away, some teams have been working on mega deals to lock up the top players of baseball for years to come.Detroit has been a regular in the playoffs with four consecutive division championships from 2011-14 . The team then finished with a sub-.500 record for the first time since the year 2008 (74-87). To help the team make it back to its promised land the front office sunk over 100 million dollars for a new pitcher (Jordan Zimmerman) but they knew that wouldn't be enough. They required more offensive power and so they went out and committed $132.75 million to a new contract for six years with Justin Upton. The last time he played, Upton's numbers weren't the best as he played in San Diego's pitcher-friendly park (.251 BA 26 home runs, 81 RBIs) however, they weren't much different from his previous year when he was at Atlanta (.270 BA, 29 home runs, 102 RBIs which is a record-setting top). He is likely to put up similar, if not even better, numbers in the Tigers park.
