Rosamund Pike was born in London on the 27th of January 1979. Her father is acclaimed opera singer Julian Pike, and her mother was also an opera singer. She was a student at the Bristol-based all-girls Badminton School, and would travel with her parents throughout Europe to take part in recitals. She was inspired by her parents' performance and began learning how to play the cello at an early age. However, she soon realized she preferred acting over music. A talent scout saw her in the school production of "Romeo and Juliet" and advised her to consider performing professionally. When she graduated from high school, she was rejected by all the theater schools she applied to.
