Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Brandon Cole Margera was born September 28th in 1979. He is the elder brother of Jess Margera and the nephew of Vincent Margera. He received the nickname "Bam Bam" from his grandfather due to his habit as a child of running in a deliberate manner against walls. Eventually, the nickname was reduced to "Bam" by his classmates. After his junior year, he dropped out of West Chester East High School. In the following years, he worked to earn his GED. In 1997 and 1998, Margera began his professional career as a skateboarder.
